Yes, those awesome blokes at Forge World have delivered that promised PDF filled with more Lords of War!
Seriously, these guys are all sorts of awesome

If you're looking for the actual PDF, it's here, and includes a reference to which books you need for which options, but I'm listing all the options below as well, I'm just not listing which books you need.

And yes, there are a lot of options here so I'm not going too deep and any one of them because honestly I haven't seen most of these played. But, I will throw my own little comments in after each as I usually do. So let's get this show started!

Imperial Guard

  • Crassus Armoured Assault Transport
  • Gorgon Heavy Transporter
  • Macharius Heavy Tank
  • Macharius Omega
  • Macharius Vanquisher
  • Macharius Vulcan
  • Malcador Heavy Tank
  • Malcador Annihilator
  • Malcador Defender
  • Malcador Infernus
  • Praetor Armoured Assault Launcher
  • Dominus Armoured Siege Bombard
  • Shadowsword
  • Stormblade
  • Stormsword
  • Valdor Tank Hunter
  • Minotaur Artillery Tank
Do you like tanks? Do you want to marry a tank, or secretly be a tank? Well IG has your potentially weird obsession covered even further than they did before!

Yes, not only do you have the Baneblade variants from Escalation, but you have a wide number of options of tanks of all kinds. I'm sure the treadheads everywhere are excited.

Imperial Navy

  • Marauder Bomber
  • Marauder Destroyer
Despite the name, these two are open to all of the Imperial Armies. I've honestly never seen these played before so I can't comment on how good or bad they are, but it is nice to see some more options hit the table in terms of flyers.

And yes, Sisters can take these if you like. But not the Inquisition, because, you know, reasons.

Forces of the Imperium

  • Reaver Battle Titan
  • Warhound Scout Titan
Yes, these too are open to almost all of the Imperial Armies (even Sisters got access), but I wouldn't get too carried away on putting Reavers in your list as they eat up a lot of points and may not leave much, if any room left, in your army if you play them at points levels below 2,000 points.

It definitely looks like I'll be taking a Warhound in the future. Guess I need to start working on my scratch build project then. Yes, as I said in the previous article about Forge World, if they gave Sisters access to titans I'd scratch build a Warhound, and I intend on keeping that promise. More on that to come though.

Space Marines

  • Thunderhawk Gunship
  • Thunderhawk Transporter
Don't be confused by the section below, Grey Knights can take these options too. Really just more Thunderhawk options. Not bad, but I don't know anyone who has ever talked about using the Transporter option for the Thunderhawk. It'll be interesting if Escalation changes that.

NOTE: Space Marines do have more options than this, but they're all in IA2v2 so they didn't make the PDF.

Grey Knights

  • Grey Knights Thunderhawk Gunship
It's a silver Thunderhawk. And no, the Codex: Inquisition can't take this.

Chaos Space Marines

  • Chaos Reaver Battle Titan
  • Chaos Warhound Titan
  • Chaos Space Marine Thunderhawk Gunship
  • Greater Brass Scorpion of Khorne
Was anyone disappointing by the Lord of Skulls, or really wanted a Chaos Titan? If that's you, then Forgeworld heard your pleas and gave you more deliciously spikey options!

Honestly I love the Chaos Reaver, it's one of my favorite superheavies in the entire game and I'm glad to see that it made it into the game.

Chaos Daemons

  • Daemon Lord – Aetaos’rau’keres, Greater Daemon of Tzeentch
  • Daemon Lord – An’ggrath, Greater Daemon of Khorne
  • Daemon Lord – Scabeiathrax, Greater Daemon of Nurgle
  • Daemon Lord – Zarakynel, Greater Daemon of Slaanesh
  • Greater Brass Scorpion of Khorne
Yes, Daemons got all of their massive Daemon options. Also the Greater Brass Scorpion, another cool superheavy.

  • Gauss Pylon
While being a static superheavy, this bad boy is still downright mean on the table and I expect it to get some mileage in games.

  • Kustom Battle Fortres
  • Kill Blasta
  • Kill Bursta
  • Kill Krusha Tank
  • Gargantuan Squiggoth
  • Stompa
  • Kustom Stompa
Do you play Orks? Do you like scratchbuilding, kitbashing and otherwise making a mockery of the other races by incorporating their prized vehicles and wargear in your models? Well Forgeworld heard your desires thanks to the power of the Waagh and gave you two custom vehicles!

Because who doesn't want a Kustom Stompa to adorably waddle into battle and lay waste to their enemies?

  • Harridan
  • Hierophant Bio-titan
  • Barbed Hierodule
  • Scythed Hierodule
Yes, Tyranids got a few more options, and this time they're ones people are likely to take! I don't expect the Bio-titan to see the table very much due to it's points cost, but I do think we'll see the other options popping up.

Tau Empire

  • Manta Super-heavy Dropship
  • Orca Dropship
  • Tiger Shark Fighter Bomber
  • Tiger Shark AX-1-0
Yes Tau fans, Forge World has given you the AX-1-0 that you wanted so bad. And a Manta. That way you can pay points for something large enough to be it's own table.

  • Cobra
  • Lynx
  • Phantom Titan
  • Revenant Titan
  • Scorpion
  • Vampire Hunter
  • Vampire Raider
Tanks, walkers, and a strange exclusion of the Dark Eldar abound. Eldar definitely got a nicely varied list offering a number of nice options for people to use.

Final Thoughts

Sadly, Codex: Inquisition and Codex: Dark Eldar got the shaft here with no options for either one. Sorry guys, I know how it feels and that always sucks. So while it looks like the Coteaz isn't getting a Titan this Christmas, but at least the options between the armies are looking more balanced, and generally speaking, the armies have a number of lower level options making it possible to take Lords of War that isn't just designed to skulldrag your opponent's army. Unless your Dark Eldar. Sorry, you guys only get one of the best superheavies in the game and nothing else.

Honestly this makes Escalation a much more interesting and more balanced expansion and I really dig what it is. I also look forward to building my Warhound here in the future. I think that'll be a fun project to do, and I look forward to sharing that with you guys as it comes along.

Hot On The Wire.

Tutorial: Painting Warlord's Plastic Roman Legionaries

My friend Scott got very excited by my 28mm Roman project. So excited he's been amassing an army of his own. I have to paint them though...
