Every so often you come across something in our hobby that makes you take a step back, let out an approving nod and think.

Nice one.

Today as I sat down and began trawling through various news sources I came across a moment of approval over on Beasts of War.

 The base stamper KickStarter.

I wont bore you with a copy paste of every detail (hint: click the link) but I will post an image or two to show how amazing these things are.

How they Work

What you will need to make great bases in three easy steps.
Modelling Putty, Texture Stamp, 25mm Round Base.

  1. Roll the putty into a ball and place in the centre of the base.
  2. Stamp down the putty and leave to dry.
  3. Paint and mount your figure on the base.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the potential in these things is off the scale, what an incredibly simple yet fantastic idea. Props to the mastermind behind it.

Another item I saw and approved of (so much so it's in the post right now) is the Paintier carousel

Paintier Carousel

This thing for me is essential, on my desk stands a clusterfuck of paint - 120 bottles arranged neatly in a heap... this will solve that. It comes in multiple sizes - I'm not sure exactly how high you can go with this thing, 80 is the biggest they offer but it may be possible to stack higher. If anyone has an epic floor to ceiling variant share the pics!! I need to see it.

The TableScapes range from Secret Weapon Miniatures presents another faptastic idea. A stroke of genius, this is obviously an evolution of GW's own Realm of Battle table.

Other notable examples for me were the Cinematic Battlefield Effects and CoolMiniOrNots Instant Mold.

Are there any other products you've seen that fall into the to cool category?

Tutorial: Painting Warlord's Plastic Roman Legionaries

My friend Scott got very excited by my 28mm Roman project. So excited he's been amassing an army of his own. I have to paint them though...
